The purpose of the Development Department is to coordinate partnerships with community groups, pursue grant funding for city projects, and administer the Community Development Block Grant.
The Development Department also offers Housing Programs to income eligible homeowners. The funding comes from U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. These programs provide health and safety services for low-income Marietta resident's homes.
Public Notice - Program Year 2023 Action Plan
The Marietta Development Department has prepared the City’s 2023 annual Action Plan with the purpose of applying to HUD for $385,601 in funding. The plan also proposes to reprogram a total of $30,883 of CDBG funding relating to previous years’ grants. The 2023 draft Action Plan seeks to advance the national objective of improving the living conditions of low-to-moderate income (LMI) persons under this plan by funding infrastructure improvements, neighborhood revitalization projects, transportation support, and homeless assistance. The Plan also proposes to fund general program administration. The Plan also anticipates continued homeowner rehabilitation assistance through continued use of prior year resources.
Starting April 19, 2023 through May 18, 2023 the draft of the 2023 Action Plan may be viewed electronically on the City of Marietta’s webpage at www.mariettaoh.net/index.php/government-and-services/planning-and-transportation/community-development and in hard copy at the Community Development office at 304 Putnam Street, Suite 2200 (1st Floor). Any comments received during this period ending May 18, 2023 will be included in the final draft submission to HUD. Comments can be hand-delivered, mailed (304 Putnam Street), or emailed (). Oral comments will be received at the public hearing on May 17, 2023 at 9:00am at the Armory Building, 241 Front Street, Community Room 10. At the May 17, 2023 hearing, the Development Department will also give a public summary of the 2023 Action Plan. Citizen participation in the hearing and review and comment on the Plan are encouraged, with Low-to-Moderate Income citizens being especially encouraged to participate.

Homeowner Rehabilitation Assistance Programs

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Information
The City of Marietta participates in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Entitlement Program. As part of the annual submissions related to that program, the Department seeks project ideas and suggestions from community residents. If you wish to suggest an idea, please use this form.
