The purpose of the Development Department is to coordinate partnerships with community groups, pursue grant funding for city projects, and administer the Community Development Block Grant.

The Development Department also offers Housing Programs to income eligible homeowners. The funding comes from U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. These programs provide health and safety services for low-income Marietta resident's homes.

Marietta CDBG Needs Assessment Community Survey (for Consolidated Planning Cycle 2021-2023)

The City of Marietta is conducting a survey to assist in development of its 2021 - 2023 CDBG consolidated plan. You are encouraged as a Marietta citizen or community stakeholder to complete the survey and provide input. March 11 2021 Community Needs Assessment Meeting

The City of Marietta will be facilitating a Needs Assessment-focused virtual public meeting on March 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. This meeting will conducted online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. You will be able to watch the meeting on Facebook Live on the City of Marietta Facebook page and actively participate through Zoom. The Zoom option is suggested for citizens or community stakeholders who would like to provide public feedback on the development of the City’s Consolidated Plan or the formation of its 2021 Action Plan. As stated more fully in the public notice which was published in the Wednesday, February 24 edition of the Marietta Times, the purposes of the hearing are to (1) present data which the Development Department is using in formation of the 2021-23 Consolidated Plan and 2021 Action Plan; (2) present program information in a manner calculated to educate the public generally about the CDBG program and its major details, (3) solicit input into community needs and development of funding priorities, (4) provide information about the expected CDBG allocation from HUD (presently estimated to be in the range of $400,000-425,000 per year during the relevant Consolidated Planning Period), and (5) provide information about prior year performance.

Citizens who require assistance in accessing the technology necessary to attend the meeting are encouraged to contact the Marietta IT Department (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) in advance of the meeting. The plan is to make a public facility available in The Armory for this purpose.

Low-to-moderate income citizens (defined as members of households bring in between 0-80% of median area income) are especially encouraged and invited to participate in the March 11, 2021 Needs Assessment meeting.
