Make a Difference Work Day

Over 300 students and alumni from Marietta College, eight of which joined some of our committee members, for the Make A Difference Day on Saturday, April 14, 2007. These eight students, a MC graduate (political science) and seven member of the Petroleum Engineering Department, performed cleanup work around the Start Westward Monument plaza, particularly shoveling large amounts of mud from the steps leading down to the Muskingum River. The plan on this community day was to have cleaned the four Start Westward Obelisks downtown near the corners of Front & Putnam Streets and Front & Wooster Streets. Others would have worked on the Celeron Monument in the Harmar District at the intersection of Virginia & Gilman Streets. The Community is invited and encouraged to join us again in the future when we reschedule a clean up for these monuments. Check back with this website for dates and times.
