The Marietta Police Department Parking Bureau is responsible for providing fair and equitable disposition of tickets written for parking violations. The Parking Bureau also provides information and responds to all inquiries directed from the public, collects payments for fines, sends late notices, conducts hearings on contested tickets, and follows enforcement procedures against violators with unpaid tickets as allowable by law.

The Parking Enforcement Officers are authorized to issue violations and write tickets on illegally parked vehicles. PEO’s understand the vital role they play through proper enforcement, training, and focusing on customer service.

The Marietta City Police Parking Bureau employs three levels of enforcement of parking regulations by: issuing parking tickets to vehicles that violate city ordinances; immobilizing vehicles with a boot for accumulating unpaid judgements; and, in certain cases, towing and impounding vehicles that are in violation of ordinances.

Parking Bureau is closed on Legal Holidays including:

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr's Birthday
  • Presidents' Day - Monday, February 21st
  • Memorial Day - Monday, May 30th
  • Juneteenth (observed) Monday June 20th
  • Independence Day - Monday, July 4th
  • Labor Day - Monday, September 5th
  • Election Day - Tuesday, November 8th

More Information
Immobilization & Tow Information
A vehicle may be impounded for improper registration or license plates and outstanding parking violations. The fees for the Tow Companies are set by law and not by the Parking Bureau. Tow fees must be paid to the Company that Towed/Impounded your vehicle. You must contact the Tow Company to find out the exact amount due and the location of your vehicle.

The Parking Enforcement Officer will utilize a “Boot”, which is an immobilization device that attaches to a vehicle’s tire, if you have accumulated unpaid judgments.

Booting or towing (impounding) a vehicle is one of the strongest and most serious enforcement tools used by the Parking Bureau. If your vehicle has been Booted and/or impounded for outstanding violations it means you have failed to respond to tickets, late notices, and /or default judgments.

Boots may remain on vehicles a maximum of 10 days. After 10 days the vehicle will then be towed to an impound yard. Do not attempt to remove the boot on your own or you may face criminal charges.

How to Retrieve Your Vehicle
Releasing a Booted Vehicle MUST be done before 3pm Monday-Friday and payments must be made in cash, certified bank check, or money order. There is no exception to this rule.

The following is a list of instructions for Immobilized and Towed vehicles which, if followed, will make the release of your vehicle easier.

  • To have your vehicle released from the Boot: You MUST appear at the Parking Bureau before 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Any outstanding parking tickets under the registered owner’s name MUST be paid to have the vehicle released. Upon arrival, you are required to provide proof of identification: a valid driver’s license and the vehicle’s registration.
  • To claim your vehicle after it has been towed for Parking Violations: You MUST first come to the Parking Bureau to pay all outstanding parking violations. You MUST provide proof of ownership and a valid driver’s license. You will then take your paid receipts to the Tow Company/Impound lot to pay those outstanding charges. Once all charges have been paid, your vehicle will be released to you.
Vehicles are only released to the registered owner or title holder of the vehicle.
